Agathe Gardino, local knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit

Agathe is in charge of seasonal rentals and private concierge services. Trained in real estate, she first worked in hospitality in England, then in sales for a major Italian homeware brand. Two roles in multicultural settings, where a sense of hospitality is never optional.

She then set up her own concierge business on Arcachon Bay. In-depth knowledge of the area, high-end stays, a network of local providers: this is the experience she now brings to Maxwell-Baynes.

Agathe has lived on both the north and the south side of the Bay. She knows its towns and villages and their atmospheres, which change so much from one shore to the other.

And then there is travel. A voyage round the Atlantic under sail with her partner, then backpacking through Brazil, the Amazon, Bolivia and Argentina. You come back from journeys like these with independence, perseverance and a genuine openness to others. Three qualities whose value becomes clear the day a stay does not go quite to plan.

This is where our professions meet. A villa rented in Pyla often means a large table, a beautiful kitchen and no wish to spend the holiday at the stove. The concierge team takes care of the house and the organisation of the stay. I take care of the kitchen.

In practice, I plan the menus with the guests beforehand, taking into account tastes, children and special diets. I do the shopping myself, at the market, with produce from the Bay and the South-West. Then I cook on site and serve at the table, for a full stay with a villa chef, of four days minimum, anywhere around Arcachon Bay.
