How much does a private chef cost in Mallorca?

When you rent a villa in Mallorca, the chef can be one of the larger lines in the holiday budget, so you should know exactly what you are paying for. Here is how I price a stay as a private chef in Mallorca, from Palma to Pollença: my rates, a worked weekly example, what makes the total move and how it compares with eating out.

The short answer: my fee is €400, €450 or €600 per day for 1 to 10 guests, depending on whether I cook one, two or three meals. Groceries are paid on top at actual cost, on receipts, and my travel and accommodation are added to the quote. The minimum stay is 4 days.

My packages and daily rates

I price per day for the whole group, not per person. What changes between the packages is the number of meals I cook each day.

Package Meals per day Per day 7 days
Essential 1 meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner €400 €2,800
Prestige 2 meals, usually lunch and dinner €450 €3,150
Exclusive Breakfast, lunch, dinner and an afternoon snack €600 €4,200

Every package includes menu planning before you arrive, the time I spend at the markets, cooking in your villa kitchen, table service and a clean kitchen after each meal. The full service, area by area, is described on my private chef in Mallorca page.

Example: one week in a Mallorca villa

Let's take a typical booking: a family of eight in a villa near Sóller, seven days, with the Prestige package (lunch and dinner every day).

Item Calculation Amount
Chef's fee 7 days × €450 €3,150
Groceries (estimate) 8 guests × 7 days × €25 to €50 €1,400 to €2,800
Travel and accommodation Depends on your dates In the quote

For eight guests, the Prestige fee works out at about €56 per person per day for two meals cooked, served and cleared. The same week with Exclusive costs 7 × €600 = €4,200 in fees. With 12 guests on Prestige, it becomes 7 × €550 = €3,850.

Only the chef's fee is fixed. The grocery line is a planning guide, not a price: it depends on your menus, and you pay exactly what is spent, on receipts.

What makes the budget go up or down

The number of guests

The rate is the same from 1 to 10 guests, so the cost per person falls as the group grows. From 11 to 15 guests, €100 per day is added. From 16 to 20 guests, I recommend a server at €220 per day so that table service stays smooth. Above 20 guests, I quote for a larger team.

The number of meals

One dinner a day with Essential, or every meal with Exclusive: this is the main lever on the fee. Many families choose Prestige and keep one or two evenings for a restaurant in Palma or Deià.

The season

My daily rates do not change with the season. What changes in July and August is the price of flights and of accommodation near your villa, so booking early helps keep that part of the quote down.

Wines and the produce you choose

Wines and other drinks are not part of the daily rate. Mallorca makes very good wine, from Binissalem in the centre of the island to Pla i Llevant in the east, and I am happy to suggest bottles for each menu. On the plate, Sóller red prawns and a whole wild fish cost more than Mallorcan lamb, vegetables from Sineu market and island cheeses. Give me a budget and I build the menus around it.

Private chef or restaurants in Palma?

Palma has excellent restaurants, and I would never tell you to skip them. The comparison is about the whole week, not a single dinner.

Many of my clients mix the two: the chef for most meals, one or two evenings out. For a wider comparison, read private chef vs restaurant.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private chef cost per week in Mallorca?

For 7 days and 1 to 10 guests, my fee is €2,800 with Essential, €3,150 with Prestige and €4,200 with Exclusive. Groceries are added at actual cost, on receipts, as well as my travel and accommodation.

Is the price per person or per day?

Per day, for the whole group. The same rate applies from 1 to 10 guests. From 11 to 15 guests, €100 per day is added, and from 16 to 20 guests I recommend a server at €220 per day.

How much should I budget for groceries?

You pay the actual cost of the food, on receipts. As a planning guide, allow €25 to €50 per person per day, depending on the menus and the number of meals. It is an estimate, not a flat rate.

Are wines included in the price?

No. Wines and other drinks are not part of the daily rate. I can suggest Mallorcan wines, from Binissalem or Pla i Llevant, to go with each menu.

When should I book a private chef in Mallorca for the summer?

For July and August, book 2 to 3 months ahead. Outside high season, 3 to 4 weeks is usually enough. The minimum stay is 4 days.
